Week of March 7-11Week of March 7-11

Highlights of the week:

The kindergarteners continued to work on reading and writing skills in literacy centers as they wrote and read the room using the letters of their names, put given words in correct order to write and illustrate sentences, complete a survey of 10 friends and analyze the results of the data, read a fiction book and respond to it by writing the characters, setting, problem and solution of the text, and read a fiction book using a QR code and writing a response to given question about the book. In math we continue work on many number skills including: composing and decomposing numbers, counting objects in groups, identifying numbers  in various forms (for example: words, tally marks, ten frames, and numerals), identifying the number before and after a given number and solving word problems and writing the equation for the problem. We are also continuing our character study of main characters in a series. Last week we wrote characteristics of Henry of HENRY and MUDGE, and Elephant and Piggie. On Wednesday afternoon, we saw a fabulous performance given by the 3rd grade classes. Remember this coming week is Question Week and on Tuesday is No School for students but an Institute Day for teachers. Also please return library books each week and for students who have not completed all of the ABC homework, please so so. Continue to checkout your child’s work on SeeSaw.
