This week we have spent time working on using our letter sound knowledge to stretch out/sound out words. Your child has been working very hard to listen to the first sound and then try to hear at least 2 more sounds that are in the word. We will be putting this skill into practice when we are writing sentences and expressing ourselves through writing.
I have some students that are now ready to be tested for F&P reading levels. In order to be tested by me, they need to know all the letters of the alphabet and all the sounds. I will complete the testing next week and will be regrouping students for guided reading at that time. If you see your child with a different level book coming home in November that is why. Please email me if you have any questions.
Next week we will be working on a small science unit on bats. We will learn the parts of a bat and about nocturnal animals. We will also be working on the “at” word family. On Friday, we will not be having a Halloween party but we will be watching a movie for the last 40 minutes in the afternoon. Please no costumes or treats to be sent to school on Friday.
Tonight is the Fall Fest starting at 6:00 pm. Please come out in costume and enjoy the fun and festivities.
