Week of January 11-15Week of January 11-15

Highlights of the week:

All of my kindergarteners returned from our winter break ready to dive back into 21st learning at school and trying to be diligent students. Last week your child received his/her first spelling list. The first lists are meant to help your child use the sounds he/she learned through Jolly Phonics and practice stretching out words to hear all of the sounds in the words. Please take time each evening to practice the words by writing them and putting the words into short meaningful sentences. I will hand the lists out each week on Monday and give the test on Friday. We will also do some practice in school. In math we are working on composing and decomposing numbers and related skills. Also, thank you to all parents for sending in supplies for our new science unit. It will be a fun unit to explore. Last Friday, we began FAST testing your child in literacy skills and Tuesday I will test your child in math skills using FAST. You will receive the results of the tests at conferences in February. On that note, thank you to all parents for returning your choice for a conference time. If you have not returned the sheets indicating your choice for a conference time, please return them on Tuesday. Thank you!

Stay Warm!!!!!
