April 11-15April 11-15
Greetings:
This week each morning, besides our morning Literacy Centers: Read to Self, Read to Others, Listening, Word Work, and Writing, we wrote the Morning News, and practiced writing sight words in sentences. We also continued writing our fiction books featuring our favorite characters from book that we have read. In addition, we are reading poetry each morning because we like poems and April is poetry month. In math each day, we continue to use elements of the math workshop: Calendar, the Number of the Day, Daily Word Problem, Mini Lesson, Math Centers and Sharing. Finally this week, we have begun a new unit on Engineering. This week we looked at blueprints and talked about their importance in building a structure. The children also made a plan/blueprint for a building that they wanted to build and used their plan to construct it. Look on Seesaw! Remember to read with your child each day, Also, please remember the children are sharing a biography this month when they share a book. Check the reading calendar for your child’s day to share. This is important homework. Please take time to go to the library with your child and find a biography to share with the class.
Enjoy the fabulous weather,
Angie Kelly
