CCSD59 Students Get Safe Summer Tips from Officer Safety
CCSD59 students at Robert Frost finished up their last week of Summer Quest with a special guest appearance by the Mount Prospect Police Department.
The officers, who came to the school on Thursday, July 13, spoke to students about the importance of wearing bike helmets, when to find an officer for help or call 911, and other important tips for staying safe over the summer.
Always patient with the intrigued students, the officers fielded student questions about their jobs, their most exciting assignments, their experience and backgrounds, and even what frightens them.
The officers also explained that this summer, the Mount Prospect Police Department officers are going to “catch” children in the act of practicing good safety (such as wearing a bike helmet, utilizing a crosswalk, etc.) and reward them with coupons for summertime treats. They also thanked students for being good listeners, and commended them on staying safe during their summer session.
The students were passed freeze-pops as a treat to enjoy during the presentation. The best colors, according to the officers? Red and blue, of course!
