CCSD59 Board Approves Karen Aylward-Starr as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services
A comprehensive search for the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the 2016 – 17 school year has been brought to a conclusion. From a pool of over forty candidates, three rounds of interviews involving a representative group of staff/DEA members, building administrators, district administrators, Board of Education members, and a parent, Karen Aylward-Starr emerged as the preferred candidate and was approved for this leadership position by the CCSD59 Board of Education at the February 22 board meeting.
Ms. Aylward-Starr has been an educator for over twelve years, serving the last six years as a Director of Special Services in Huntley District 158. Prior to moving into the director’s position, Ms. Aylward-Starr served as the Assistant Director of Special Services and as a Learning Behavior Specialist, also in Huntley District 158. Additionally, Ms. Aylward-Starr has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and a Director of Special Education Endorsement, all from Northern Illinois University.
