Photos: Robert Frost celebrates Multicultural Children's Book Day
Students at Robert Frost Elementary welcomed parents, CCSD59 administrators, board of education members, and community members on Wednesday for a morning full of reading, listening, and lessons about diversity. Visitors made stops in classrooms throughout the school as part of a recognition of Multicultural Children’s Book Day.
Created in 2021, the mission of the celebration is to “raise awareness for children’s books that celebrate diversity by getting more of these books into classrooms and libraries. This non-profit also strives to shine the spotlight on the diverse books and authors that often get overlooked by mainstream publishing and media.”
Mystery readers had the opportunity to share important lessons, discuss the strength found in our differences, and get to know several students a bit better as they answered questions.
