Peace Day at Ridge
On October 16 we celebrated Peace Day at Ridge with school wide activities. The school watched a brief video in which students and staff answered different questions about peace and how it is important in our lives. After the video students listened to a book, Jubilee (by Alicia Potter, Illustrated by Matt Tavares), as part of a school wide read aloud. This story was about the 1869 National Peace Jubilee and Music Festival. After our indoor activities students placed their decorated small rocks in a little heart shaped area of our courtyard near the Peace Pole. We finished our activities by forming a peace sign with students and staff. This was a nice celebration to enhance our values of peace and kindness in being civically and globally responsible.
